Last Saturday (yeah, I know, I’m slow) was Parade of Nations, which is a fairly big deal around these parts. Basically what happens is a whole lot of people arranges themselves into nationalities and other groups (there were three marching bands) and walk down through Hancock and Houghton. You may be expecting a bunch of pictures of different nationalites and interesting groups, and if you were then you will be dissapointed! I was actually in the parade as part of South Korea (through my TaeKwonDo class) so I was too busy kicking things and jumping around and getting small children to kick our paddles to take any picture of the parade itself. I do, however, have some shots from before the whole thing got started.

It is incredibly difficult to capture the flashier kicks right as they connect. The leg snaps so fast that timing the shutter press is a matter of skill and luck put together. This is the closest I got with a roundhouse…

And that’s all the “actiony” shots I managed to get that didn’t completely suck. I also got this picture of the Malaysian (I think) dragon dancers. It has nothing to do with what I was doing, but I thought it was pretty cool. It marched directly ahead of us.
